Book I bought despite the cover

Let's face it, Romance can have some taste issues when it comes to covers. It is much worse now that self-publishing is a thing. Back in the day, when romance novels actually had "bodice ripper" covers, they were really art.  Artistis like Pino and Elaine Duillo created some really beautiful covers that got sniffed at because Fabio!.  But seriously, those things were beautiful. And they were painted with like oils and watercolors and shit. 

So anyway, yeah, back to this cover.....

I had seen some positive reviews of Liberating Lacey - Anne Calhoun   and had read a blurb.  Normally I would have passed on it.  it wasn't anything special and let's face it, the cover looks like it is trying to advertise one of those late night Cinemax soft-core porn movies.

And yet, I got it.  And damn but it is a really great book.  Strong romance, good plot, great internal conflict, lots of chemistry and sexy sex.
