A Wrinkle in Time - Madeleine L'Engle

Best YA book.

GACK!  YA!  I don't read YA.  I didn't read YA when I was a young adult Hint: this book

At first I was gonna go with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone - J.K. Rowling,Mary GrandPré  .  I mean Harry-Freaking-Potter is a no brainer.  And it is pretty much the only YA I could really think of.  But then...  I remembered.

5th grade.  We had to do oral book presentations.  One each grading period.  In hindsight I realize that my 5th grade teacher was a fantasy geek because a lot of the books on the pre-approved book list were heavily sf-fantasy.

I nabbed A Wrinkle in Time - Madeleine L'Engle  because nothing else looked interesting that marking period.  And I was transported.  As soon as each one of my kids showed the ability to read longer form literature I gave them this to read.

Still love this book!
