Goodness Gracious!  I just read a headline that said Purple Rain came out 30 years ago.  Gah!  I was a sophomore in HS and my friends and I saw this movie the day it opened.  The line was hella long!  But it was fantastic.  The rest of the summer I had 'When Doves Cry' on constant replay.

The next year in early January we roadtripped to Syracuse, NY to see the Purple Rain concert in the Carrier Dome.  It was fantastic.  I was in the 17th row and caught one of the fabric flowers he threw into the crowd.  His in-person performance of Darling Nikki made me clutch my young teenaged-girl pearls in horrified glee. 

To this day I still own my original vinyl album and can sing all the words to every single song, Even Computer Blue which really doesn't have very many words.  Such is my love for all things Prince that I upgraded the vinyl to CD somewhere in the mid-90s and then again to mp3s probably 10 years after that.

Sigh.  Good times.  Happy anniversary Purple Rain.
