Glory in Death - J.D. Robb This is the second book of the In Death series.

It is 2058, early summer, about five months after the events of the first book. Eve and Roarke are a couple. Because of her association with him and her closing of the high profile DeBlass case in the previous book, Eve is no longer an anonymous murder cop. She's got a bit of celebrity shine to her now.

She's called to the murder scene of the prominent local DA. Cecily Towers' throat had been slashed in a dreary little neighborhood. Eve starts her investigation looking at the woman's family. But things get complicated because the family has close personal ties with Eve's boss Commander Whitney.

On a more personal front, things are getting more serious with Roarke and Eve is starting to have nightmares about her childhood, the first 8 years of which she has had no memory of.

This is a nice follow-up to the first book. In this book, JD Robb introduces themes that she will use again throughout the series as she introduces her first serial killer.

In the first book, Eve was a serious loner, with Mavis as her only friend and Feeney as her erstwhile partner. This book begins to introduce some the other people who later become part of Eve's tight knit circle: Nadine Furst, the foxy reporter, the get our first glimpse of the fantastic Peabody, and Crack, the seven foot tall bouncer of the Down and Dirty club.
