Eh. This is why I tend to shy away from novella length books. Some authors manage to write an entire, fully rounded little story in the length. But my experience with novellas has more often than not been that I've felt that a lot of story is missing.
That is the case with this book. I actually adore Lisa Kleypas' works. She writes both historicals and contemporaries really, really well. But here I felt she was trying to shorten a full length book and it didn't work quite well. I felt it needed more.
I loved the story set up but I wanted more. I wanted to see more of the Nolan brothers working their way back into being a family. I wanted to see Mark and Maggie as a couple a little more. I wanted to know more about Alex's bad marriage. I felt like I got teased a lot with very little follow through.
It was a cute, little heartwarming story with some great ideas. I just needed more.
