The Neighbor - Lisa Gardner This book was definitely a page turner. It was also a very suspenseful and exciting read.

However I can't like this book more than 3-stars. Mainly because the author did a great job of making her main character DD seem somewhat ineffective, while making her two main suspects really, really sympathetic. One of them I just plain felt bad for. The other I was rooting for like crazy because I didn't feel that he was guilty.

DD is supposed to be this crack sergeant detective. But during the investigation it just felt like she had zeroed in on one suspect and really didn't try to truly investigate her case as much as she just tried to make this person the guilty party. Even in the end after the case had been wrapped, she's unhappy because her main suspect wasn't guilty and she couldn't arrest him. So yeah, I wasn't overly impressed with Sgt. Warren. Admittedly she and the police got a little bit played in this one, so her vague sense of dissatisfaction is merited. But still I wish she had done more real investigation. For myself, I found the resolution to the story and how most of the characters ended up incredibly satisfying.
