Very pleasant surprise. Kinda reminds me a little bit of Deborah Crombie's Duncan Kincaid & Gemma James series. I liked Kate right off the bat. She is sassy! Also enjoyed how witheringly aristocratic she she makes Tony when it is necessary. Especially enjoying how the author is working through issues of class via Tony, gender via Kate and race via Paul -- all within the context of larger society and within the smaller microcosm of Scotland Yard. Thought the romance element felt rushed and under-cooked. It was the weakness of the book.
