Genre fiction lover: Romance, Sci Fi, Fantasy, Mystery, Urban Fantasy
Started out a tick slow but kicked into gear about 1/3 of the way through and never looked back. Completely loved it.
I especially love the world-building -- the magic v. tech waves and the futuristic, almost post apocalyptic, dystopian feel of the time. And since in the paranormal universe I am more partial to shapeshifters than vampires, I like her treatment of vampires. Nothing sexy or seductive about them. They are monsters pure and simple. Whereas Curran -- hubba hubba
There are also bits nice understated humor. And I had to keep giggling to myself because I kept picturing, well, the singer Bono whenever the character Bono was 'on scene'.
Took a star off because of the very 'first book' feel and the too common Kick Ass Loner chick trope. But I can live with Kick Ass loner chick Kate when the story is this good
