How have I not read you yet? My 2015 Reading challenge

The Rowan - Anne McCaffrey Shibumi - Trevanian Lilith`s Brood - Octavia E. Butler Ride The Thunder - Janet Dailey Firestarter - Stephen King Downbelow Station - C.J. Cherryh Dark Before the Rising Sun - Laurie McBain If Tomorrow Comes - Sidney Sheldon To Say Nothing of the Dog - Connie Willis

Some background first:

Back in 2010, My husband and I moved from a 900 square foot house that we'd lived in for six years to our current house, a 2300 sq ft, three-story much roomier place.

Over the years we had amassed what in the end was about 40 large plastic bins of books  (think of those bins that Walter told Jessie he needed to buy to dispose of a body with Sulfuric Acid in Breaking Bad -- yeah, those bins). When we lived in our previous place, we could not store them in our cute, but smallish house.  So we binned them up, and stored them in his parents' barn.

Fast-forward to Winter 2014.  Our ground floor family room had an unbroken expanse of wall that ran the length of the house.  When we first bought this house 4 years ago we had the same thought.  This wall would be great for shelves and we could liberate our books from the barn.  It has taken us those 4-years to get the shelving built and shlep all those bins from the barn to our house.

My husband and I had two weeks of glorious freedom this holiday, the first time in years we'd both been off at the same time for such an uninterrupted time.  We decided to finally get the books out of the bins and onto the finished shelves.

It took a lot longer than we expected because we found ourselves being too distracted by our books -- some of which we were just rediscovering after 10 -15 years -- flipping through them, reading passages, exclaiming "I forgot I had this!'  During the whole process of unpacking & shelving.  By the end of it, we each had created a personal stack of books to haul upstairs to our room to 'look at closer'.

The Challenge:

In my case, some of  the books I put aside are the ones I am going to read for my challenge in 2015.

I call this the How Have I Not Read You Yet? Challenge.  Because as I looked through some of them I am pretty sure that although I owned these books I haven't actually read them.

Well, not strictly true... I think in one or two cases I am sure I read them... I think... but I have no recollection of anything about them so they are practically new reads to me.

All of these books fall into one of four categories:

1. Books I have always meant to read but never got around to it

Downbelow Station - C.J. Cherryh

To Say Nothing of the Dog - Connie Willis

2. Books by authors who I thought I'd read everything in their back-list but apparently not this one

The Rowan - Anne McCaffrey

Firestarter - Stephen King

If Tomorrow Comes - Sidney Sheldon

3. Books I swear I read before but nothing is sounding familiar, so I need to read them now at least

Lilith`s Brood - Octavia E. Butler  (Xenogenisis trilogy)

Dark Before the Rising Sun - Laurie McBain

4. WTF books that are not my husband's so they have to be mine and, oh my, the blurb makes them sound cracked out awesome so I have to read them.

Shibumi - Trevanian

Ride The Thunder - Janet Dailey

One thing I really love about these books is that it looks like most of them were written/published in the 80s.  This is even better!
