Oh well. I thought I had a new UF series to get enmeshed in. But I ended up DNF'ing @ about 50%.

Bottom line, there was nothing new enough, entertaining enough, different enough or even enough diversity to keep my interest. The book was all set up. All "let me tell you about my world" via the convention of explaining all the rules to a newly made vampire -- the heroine Merit. But the world was not interesting -- or rather the world felt like a conglomeration of a bunch of other UF/PNR worlds. Nothing really felt fresh. I was rather bored.

For a hot minute I considered continuing because I genuinely liked a couple of the supporting characters. But then I decided why bother? I don't feel like investing in a series when I am not really interested in the main characters or the environment.
